I'm coming back to the TC class after a few years and was wondering what kind of Diffs' people are running? Last time I raced TC it was all about the Front & Centre One-Way's. I would imagine Gear Diffs are used now? Any help would be appreciated Liam

Spool in front and what you prefer in the rear i like the feal of a ball diff more than a gear diff.

I've got both Ball & Gear Diffs so will try each of them. Didn't have Gear Diffs when I last raced TC, so will be new to me.

The only way to describe a Gear Diff is it feels different, you will either love it or hate it. It does definitely change the feeling of the car.
As far a speed goes I find there is next to no difference between a ball diff and gear diff. The only reason I like the gear diff is no maintenance (not so much of an issue indoors but outdoors a diff will only last 3 of 4 runs before a rebuild)
The 416 i always ran (indoors or outdoors) with a gear diff but the TC6 i do tend to run a gear diff indoors and a ball diff more often than not outdoors as i still struggle with the feel on the lower grip surfaces.
As you have said Liam try it and see. You will soon know if you dont like it.

As no one has mentioned from memory the oil should be anywhere from 700cst to 1300st.

As no one has mentioned from memory the oil should be anywhere from 700cst to 1300st. I would recommend between 1000 and 2000wt (Fastrax) in a touring car at DMCRC. 700cts in 13.5 blinky will give you a lot of steering.

I noticed some of the top drivers using gear diffs front and back

Yes they do, the front gear diff in a tc is usually filled with putty to make it very stiff.

Is there any advantage to using a Front Gear Diff over a Spool?

If I'm honest I don't know. I guess there is if you talk to some of the top drivers but I haven't seen any when I tried it. Running 500k wt oil in the front the car was inconsistent would turn in OK on occasions but would push on others, very dificult to drive as you didn't know what was going to happen everytime a corner came , I'm thinking 500K is too thin for the front. I have run run the front gear diff filled with putty which was better but I didn't find it any quicker than a spool so went back to the spool.
