Calum Roberton and I were discussing the tamiya mini classes after last club night, and we were wondering whether or not an open tamiya mini class would be a good idea? Effectively combining mini stock and mini mod, or just replacing mini-mod. Running whatever set-up you wish, with whatever motor you wish to really push the limits of performance from the minis. It could be argued that a class like this would be unfair on those that can't afford the best equipment...but the beauty of minis is that pretty much everything for them is cheap....so what better class to have open and progressive? Fast and exciting!! Could end up like the Group B rally car class in the 80s though haha!!
What do people think? Any ideas?

It's not a case of the cost, as spending £150 on a Mini or £500 will make little, or no difference, as very little of the parts actually make any difference. The whole point of the Mini class is that it is close racing, opening it up will push people away eventually.
That was the whole point in the Mini Mod class when people were running Top Sabre's, ABC Grid's & Xevo's, you could push the limits a bit more with speed, setup and cost of electrics. Other things to consider are that the other clubs in the area will be running to a 'Spec Mini' class, like us, so there members won't want to race at DMCRC if it is open on all the rules.
There is a reason why there is a Mini & Mini Mod classes already.
