Following on from some recent happenings we are introducing a new rule for LiPo use effective immediately:
This applies to any LiPo batteries you plan to use at the club
All damage received to a LiPo battery that in anyway could result in the battery malfunctioning must be reported to a committee member immediately or if the damage happens outside of the club then you should report it while booking in at your next visit.
If the hardcase is damaged - cracked, split, punctured or broken in anyway you should report it and cease using the battery until a repair has been effected and confirmed effective by a committee member.
Committee members will undertake spot checks and any damage not reported that could cause malfunction will result in the offending battery being banned from use until such a time as the battery is repaired.
Why We don't want a fire and we don't want anyone to come to harm.
What can I do? Read the post offering LiPo advice or ask a committee member for advice on using LiPo safely.
Is LiPo safe? I have not seen a LiPo fire yet and I have not heard of one. This is just a precaution. It's worth noting that in the same period I have seen many cases of exploding NiMh cells both in the pits and on the track.
Cheers
